Volunteer  Experiances

Florian Gemmingen - Germany

Having spent three months with, and as a part of, Nitesh's family, I feel sad having to leave this beautiful and welcoming country. The experiences, the freedom and the fun I have had, have made my time here very memorable and I am hugely thankful for having been given such an opportunity.

Working with the children I have come to realise many things about myself and how I can be grateful for everything I have in my life. Yet, at the same time I was able to teach the children many things and have a lot of fun with them playing football, taking photos, visiting their homes and teaching them some valuable things about hygiene and health.

I can hugely recommend this project to anyone who is considering it, as I believe that no matter how old you are and where you come from you can teach the kids so many important lessons to give them an opportunity to leave the slum and enjoy a better life when they are older, while at the same time have great fun and experience the Indian way of life.

I came to Shrestha for three weeks, staying at Nitesh's house and with his family. It was great to meet all the children of the Shrestha Centre, who are all so happy and have so many talents.

When starting my adventure of going to India, I thought I will be teaching them some valuable life lessons, yet as time went on I realised that the children were actually teaching me a lot of things about life and how to appreciate the things we have.

Thankyou so much for giving us chance to help out! I think SHRESTHA is an amazing organization and the benefits it provides to the kids is extremely important. It was a pleasure working with the children and something we will never forget. We hope to spread the word about SHRESTHA so that more people know about the wonderful work you are doing.Hope to see you again.

Me and my boyfriend Jacob have now spent 2weeks together with all the amazing kids here at Shrestha, Thank you so much for giving us the chance to experience that. It has been very fun but challenging sometime. I think you guys do a very good work by running this school and giving the Kids a chance to change their life and be able to choose their own future. You have a warm good heart and we admire you for that you try to make a difference in this world.

This month I work as a volunteer, but it is my hope to make greater contribution to Shrestha in the future, I will refer new volunteers to the organization

I am truly touched by their friendliness and their innocence. I learned that some students have to travel miles to Shrestha, and it takes about half to one hour of walking, but the distance doesn’t seem to bother them at all, I see that they are truly happy to attend Shrestha and been given the opportunities to receive education.

Shrestha is doing a great job at teaching the children because the activities it offers are great. A common weekly schedule includes, English, math, Hindi, computer, and various handcraft lessons. The display of hand made clothes, pottery, drawings and hinna patterns are great proofs that those students have a variety of talents.

It has been a fabulous month working with all of you at Shrestha, and it is my honor to be a volunteer at Shrestha. Your hospitality has left me a great impression of India and I am very grateful to know that there are still people willing to dedicate themselves to great causes. Thank you very much for you accommodation and helps during this month, I have learned many important lessons and I am glad to contribute to Shrestha. It has been an honor to get to know all of you. Again, I am thankful of all the helps you have offered.

Best wishes
